Are you travelling to Meru and looking for accommodation? Recently, I had the opportunity of spending a few nights at the Meru Slopes Hotel.
So, is it a nice hotel? How is their service, food and ambience?
Let’s find out!
It is just right next to the Meru – Nanyuki highway, right next to Mwitu Centre. This makes it quite easy for you to shop for any essentials you might need.
It is hard to miss whether you are coming from Meru Town headed to Makutano or vice versa.
At first, I was mad when I got to the room. We had made a booking online for an ensuite room and was I was seeing was nowhere close to an ensuite room, or what I had seen online. It was tiny. So I asked at the front desk whether that is the same room I had requested for, only to be told no.
The lady at the front desk when we were checking in disregarded our initial booking and gave us the normal room. After asking, that’s when a different staff at the front desk told me that ensuite rooms were still available and that the lady had made a mistake.
From here, the service was great. The staff was friendly and quite helpful.
While their prices are more affordable than Alba’s, the room’s are all smaller. Even the ensuite room looked smaller than the standard room I used at Alba. However, I loved the design. It has a separate living room and a bedroom, with a work table. Again, the office desk and the bed were not that big. In fact, the bedroom area looked a little cramped for space.
Due to its proximity to the highway, the rooms can be a bit noisy. We were told the rooms have noise proofing but it didn’t sound like it.
As mentioned, the hotel is right next to Mwitu Centre, a walking distance of fewer than 5 minutes. If you forget some essentials, like toothpaste, which the hotel doesn’t offer, you can shop here.
I have to say that I was impressed by their food, especially the portions. I mostly liked their breakfast buffet, with a spread of my favourite local meals, sweet potatoes and arrow roots.
The hotel has WiFi, with great connectivity if you need to use the internet. They also have a large pool, in case you want to dive into the water. And, if you are driving, there is ample parking space.
Overall, if you are looking for an affordable hotel around Meru Town, Meru Slopes is a great choice.
